- Severity
- CVSSv3 Score
- 9.8
- Vulnerability description
The Cisco server is vulnerable to CVE-2021-1472, a Remote Code Execution vulnerability, affecting the /upload endpoint. The root cause of this vulnerability exists because the device does not adequately verify the credentials in the HTTP Authorization field when requests are made to the
/upload
endpoint. An attacker simply has to pass any generic Authorization header as part of the request to bypass the authorization check.- Risk description
The risk exists that a remote unauthenticated attacker can fully compromise the server in order to steal confidential information, install ransomware, or pivot to the internal network.
- Exploit capabilities
Sniper can gain unauthenticated Remote Code Execution on the target system and extract multiple artefacts as evidence.
- Recommendation
Upgrade Cisco to the latest version.
