Vulnerability description

The remote web server running Exhibit Engine, a PHP based photo gallery management system which is affected by a remote file include issue.

Risk description

The version of Exhibit Engine installed on the remote host fails to sanitize input to the toroot parameter before using it in the styles.php script to include PHP code. Provided PHPs register_globals setting is enabled, an unauthenticated attacker can exploit this issue to view arbitrary files and execute arbitrary code, possibly taken from third-party hosts, on the remote host.

Recommendation

No known solution was made available for at least one year since the disclosure of this vulnerability. Likely none will be provided anymore. General solution options are to upgrade to a newer release, disable respective features, remove the product or replace the product by another one.
