Gitlab CE/EE - Remote Code Execution (CVE-2021-22205)

Severity
CVSSv3 Score
10
Vulnerability description

Gitlab CE/EE is affected by a Remote Code Execution, located in the /uploads/user endpoint. The versions impacted are those less than 13.10.3, 13.9.6, and 13.8.8. Risk description

The risk exists that a remote unauthenticated attacker can fully compromise the Gitlab CE/EE in order to steal confidential information, install ransomware or pivot to the internal network.

Exploit capabilities

Sniper can gain unauthenticated Remote Code Execution on the target system and extract multiple artefacts as evidence.

Recommendation

Upgrade the Gitlab CE/EE server to the latest version or to a version higher or equal than 13.10.3, 13.9.6, or 13.8.8.
